A word from the chairman Norbert Zonneveld

The best Soloclass sailors at the best venue Europe has to offer

Riva, Garda has a magic sound to it for sailors. It is one of the world sailing centers where youngsters and trained athletes reach new heights in their carriers. The club Fraglia Vela Riva is situated in the Riva del Garda’s Park in front of the historic Canale della Rocca and the 13th-century fortress. Riva is already for more than a century a charming resort with a warm Mediterranean flavor. Riva is well known for it's excellent climatic and wind conditions and is a major attraction for International regattas and outdoor sports. The club and regatta office are capable of organizing world events for the J70, Yngling, Moth, 29er, and Melges, but most impressive is the yearly Lake Garda Optimist event with >1000 participants.

For Solo sailors, it will be a renewed introduction after the Nation Cup events in 2004, 2006 and 2014. The Dutch Solo Class Association is proud to organize this event together with the excellent regatta team of the Fraglia Vela Riva club. The turnout at the Solo events in Garda has always been more than 60 participants. There are some bets ongoing that the 2018 event will exceed 100 participants. That would be glorious and a new success in the existence of the Solo Class. It will be a great pleasure and an honor to welcome you on behalf of the organizers on Saturday 30 June 2018 for this 4-day event in Riva, Italy.
Till then.

Sailing at Riva. Does it get any better than this?

Thanks to the constancy of Lake Garda’s winds, it is renowned for being one of the best regatta places in the world. It is uncommon for a day to pass without wind on the Lake . The Garda winds change from zone to zone in their intensity in the morning and afternoon. Therefore, it is suitable for all sailors with their own specialisms.

Fraglia Vela Riva provides a wide range of facilities for competitors 365 days a year. The administration offices, mechanic’s shop and changing rooms are located on the ground floor next to the crane and boat launch; on the first floor is a restaurants and bar, lounge with internet, a terrace with a breathtaking view of the lake and lots of services for before and after competitions.
